Ballet Competitions
Russian Ballet Academy of Michigan (RBA) is not officially a competition-focused school. However, participation in ballet competitions has become a valued tradition for many of our students. For many years, RBA students have performed on the stages of prestigious ballet competitions, gaining valuable performance experience and the opportunity to present the results of their training before professional juries. One of our students was even selected to appear on the poster of a prestigious international ballet competition — a rare distinction and a great honor for both the student and our Academy.

For us, competitions are first and foremost an opportunity for growth, valuable experience, and healthy artistic challenge alongside students from other ballet schools. This experience helps both young and more advanced dancers learn to manage stage nerves, develop their artistry, accept professional feedback, and set new goals for their training. The comments and evaluations received from competition juries provide our students with valuable guidance for continued improvement.

We are especially pleased that, over the years, judges have consistently recognized the solid classical ballet training of our students, the professional guidance of their teacher, their musicality and artistry, as well as the elegant, creative, and carefully designed costumes representing RBA of Michigan.

Our students proudly represent RBA of Michigan on competition stages while continuing to grow as dancers and artists, carrying with them a love for classical ballet, discipline, and respect for the art form. Yet, beyond competitions, performances, and technical achievement, our greatest mission is to help our students grow into wonderful human beings.
We strive to nurture young people who are hardworking, respectful, humble, kind, and thoughtful toward others; who know how to build genuine friendships, support one another, and sincerely celebrate the achievements of those around them.
We believe that the values learned through ballet — discipline, perseverance, respect, grace, and humility — extend far beyond the studio.
These qualities become part of who our students are and accompany them throughout their lives.
